you can't imagine my excitement as I drove up to Gucci westman's home a few weeks ago. let me back up...
Earlier this summer I started thinking about New York fashion week. I wanted to bring you something unique and tangible on the podcast. Lots of people cover shows and the "glossy side" of fashion week but I wanted to give you a true glimpse of what happens behind-the-scenes, beyond the star studded front rows, constant street style parade and exclusive fashion parties. I'll be honest...I've been to more than a few in my time and it's fun and exciting and I still get googly eyed over certain celebrities, but that isn't what this week is really about. For me, it's about being able to witness inspiration from some of the world's most creative "artists" of wearable fashion. It's about being around people that think differently than I do. It's feeling the passion, commitment and soul a designer has come to life in their collection. It's about the intimate conversations and the awe of creative forces in the industry coming together to each share their vision for what dressing modern women looks like.
So I decided to host a series of three podcasts to take you "Behind The Runway" from three very different perspectives in the industry. Each episode is meant to not only inspire but to give you access to what I'm seeing and experiencing this week and I'll do the heavy lifting to make sure as long as we have these influentials with us, we're getting style tips and tricks that you can translate to your personal style.
Gucci is the first of a series of three (follow her on Instagram here) My plan was to interview her this summer and then go backstage this week with her at the Rag&Bone show (where she did the makeup) and edit them together. As I pulled up I have to say I was a bit nervous! She's literally done make-up for Halle, Gwyneth, Gisele, Taylor...(I could go on and on) plus she's a favorite of Vogue. She's literally at the top of her game. I wasn't sure what to expect and how open she would be to really breaking down what happens "behind the runway" in a non-intimidating way. For the next two hours she not only welcomed me with open arms into her home but I met her kids (they taught me how to Whip, Nae Nae and BOP, BOP, BOP) and her ADORABLE cat (I have a Siberian and her Maine Coon, Bullet, happens to be just as gorgeous as my Milo:) I can't say enough about how down-to-earth, sweet and beyond amazing she is both personally and professionally. She's quickly moved to the top favorites and "celeb" crushes. She's honest and real and really cares about empowering women to feel beautiful.

Apply bonne mine all over your face with a makeup sponge (I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THIS WAS EITHER!) but both CHANEL and LAURA MERCIER have great ones! It's a powder (sometimes creamy,) lighter than a bronzer and meant to be applied all over your face to wake up your look and give you a "just back from vacation" glow without making your face look darker than your neck!
Fill in brows with MAC eyebrow pencil in FLING or LINGERING, then lightly add powder over with SHISEDO'S eyebrow powder
MAC "SPICE" lip pencil (just outline your lips and color in)
Strobe Cream mixed with MAC "OH BABY" lipglass (pressed lightly onto the eyelid)
